"Designing Air", a different take on the traditional Valencian fan

Categories: exhibitions.

All spring long, the González Martí National Pottery Museum becomes a floating stage in which to immerse yourself in the world of fans through the "Designing air" exhibit.

Twenty local and international design professionals such as Terence Woodgate, Yukari Taki, Ángel Blay, Luisa Bocchietto and María Arroyo are taking part in this exhibit.

How? By redesigning the traditional Valencian fan and transforming its shapes and textures in a unique way.

In "Designing Air", more classic materials such as mother-of-pearl or fabric are combined with innovative technologies such as digitally printed wood or elements made using laser to yield twenty original versions of the typical Valencian fan.

This way, the artists demonstrate how the fusion of design and tradition can reinvent everyday items, such as a fan, and surprise the public with the unexpected result.

The "Designing Air" project is part of the events of Valencia, 2022 World Design Capital.

You have until June 26 to enjoy this unique exhibit!
