Tips for your visit
Cycle paths in Valencia
Valencia has an extensive network of cycle paths that connect all the neighbourhoods of the city. There are also ciclocalles (bicycle-priority streets with lanes in the middle of the road and a 30 km/h speed limit for general traffic) and the Turia Gardens, where bicycles ride around freely along its 8 kilometre stretch.
Where to ride
On cycle paths, ciclocalles and in the Turia Gardens.
Remember it is prohibited to cycle on the pavements, and it is only compulsory to wear a helmet in the inner city, and it's also compulsory in urban areas for children younger than 16.
Where to leave your bike
There are bike racks distributed all over the city. Remember that it is strictly forbidden to lock your bike to lampposts or trees. Overcrowding and blocking public spaces is also prohibited. If you are traveling in a group (for example, tours of 15, 20, or 30 people), mass parking that blocks pedestrian streets or entrances to historical monuments—such as the areas around the Lonja de la Seda, Mercado Central, Ayuntamiento, or Plaza de la Virgen—is not allowed. Groups must disperse their bicycles across different authorized bike parking spots.
Bicycle + Metro combination:
Bicycles can be transported on the metro without any additional charge, across the entire network on weekends, and on other days only on surface sections.

Where to ride
Which routes are permitted for bicycles in Valencia?
You must always ride in spaces specifically designated for cyclists (such as bike lanes). If there are no such spaces on your route, you must ride on the road alongside other vehicles. How should I ride a bicycle through the Turia Gardens?
The Turia Gardens have completely separate paths depending on the type of activity. If you are on a bicycle, it is strictly forbidden to ride on the dirt path (exclusive for runners) or on the pedestrian walkways.🚫 Strict rule and fines: Cyclists can only ride on the paved bike lane, which runs along the sides of the gardens. The Local Police actively patrol the park, and breaking this rule leads to direct fines. For everyone's safety and to avoid penalties, always stay inside the marked bike lane.
If I ride on the road, which lane should I use and in which direction?
You can use any lane next to the sidewalk that is most convenient for your route. On the road, you can only ride in the same direction permitted for other vehicles (you may only go against traffic if it is specifically signposted for bikes).Best practice: We advise you to ride in the center of the lane. This helps you maintain your safe space on the road and ensures you are respected by motorized vehicles.
Can you ride a bike on the sidewalk?
No, riding on the sidewalk is completely prohibited, unless there is an integrated bike lane on it or it is expressly indicated. In those exceptional cases, your speed must not exceed 15 km/h.- What rules apply in pedestrian zones or streets?
Cycling is permitted as long as there is no prohibition sign and there is a clear space for passing wider than 3 meters. In these areas:- Pedestrians always have absolute priority.
- You must maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter from pedestrians.
- Your maximum speed must be equal to or less than 10 km/h.
- Electric scooters are not allowed to ride on pedestrian streets.

You must always be visible when riding. Especially at night, the use of approved lights is mandatory (white light on the front and red light on the back of the bicycle). How should I signal my movements?
You must give advance warning of your maneuvers and turns using your arms. Being predictable greatly enhances your safety, ensuring that other road users know your path. In addition, it is advised to exercise extreme caution at intersections, especially where bike lanes cross the road. Can two people ride on the same vehicle?

Groups must disperse their bicycles across different authorized bike rack locations.
