Weather in Valencia

Valencia offers pleasant weather all year round, making it a perfect destination to visit in any season:

Timetables

Valencia follows a schedule that is slightly different from other European countries, especially regarding meals and shopping hours.

  • Breakfast time: 07:00 to 10:00
  • Mid-morning snack time: 10:00 to 12:00
  • Lunchtime: 13:30 to 15:30
  • Dinnertime: 21:00 to 23:30
  • Shop and supermarket opening hours: Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 21:00

Visa

Valencia is part of the European Union and the Schengen Area, so EU citizens do not need a visa to enter. Most travelers from outside the EU will need a Schengen Type C visa to visit Spain. Exceptions:

  • EU/EEA/Swiss citizens: No visa required
  • Citizens of Schengen visa-exempt countries: USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Argentina...

Time Zone

Valencia is in the Central European Time Zone (CET), UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer.

  • Summer time: On the last Sunday of March, clocks move forward 1 hour (to UTC+2)
  • Winter time: On the last Sunday of October, clocks move back 1 hour (to UTC+1)

Currency, Payments and Tax Free

  • Currency: Euro (€)
  • Payment methods: Cash, card (Visa, Mastercard...) and mobile (contactless).
  • ATMs: Available throughout the city
  • Currency exchange: In the city centre and at the airport.
  • Tax Free: Available for non-EU residents (purchases over €90)
  • Tipping: Optional, common if the service is good, especially in hotels and restaurants.

Language

València has two official languages: Valencian, native to the Valencian Community, and Spanish (Castilian), the official language of Spain. Additionally, many people understand and speak English, especially in tourist areas.

Electricity

Electricity in València is 220–240 V, 50 Hz, with two-round-pin plugs (Type C or F). Travelers from the UK or the USA will need an adapter; US travelers may also require a voltage converter. Adapters are available in stores and airports.
