Learn how to cook paella in Valencia

Categories: Gastronomy.

Workshops, experiences and classes to learn how to prepare authentic Valencian paella with the help of great chefs.

Valencia is the birthplace of Valencian paella, there’s no doubt about it!

What better way to get to know this dish than by learning to cook it yourself and discovering its true ingredients, the little tips and tricks, how to get the rice just right and which variety to use (Valencia PDO… always!) and how to enjoy that much-coveted, crispy socarrat.

Would you like someone to guide you through the traditional recipe? Have a look at these four experiences to do just that.

#1 Paella Experience with Valencia Club Cocina

Start your day at the Algirós Municipal Market to see the ingredients for yourself, and round it off with a freshly made paella, sangria and wines from the Valencia Designation of Origin.

Valencia Club Cocina’s experts will guide you through every step of preparing our beloved paella, and will also include Spanish omelette, coca de llanda and a shot of mistela on the menu.

Time to cook!

#2 Paella Lovers Course with Food&Fun

This specialist course teaches you how to make traditional Valencian paella with the help of an expert chef. You’ll learn how to select the best ingredients, master the cooking times and create the perfect socarrat (crispy crust) which is no easy feat.

At the end of the session, you’ll get to taste your creation alongside a selection of local red wines.

I want to learn the secret!

#3 Paella Full Experience in Villa Indiano

Cooking paella in the heart of the Valencian countryside, against the backdrop of a restored villa, is an experience that’s twice as special, don’t you think?

Every Thursday, Villa Indiano organises a group experience (minimum 10 people) where local chefs will teach you the authentic recipe whilst you enjoy the surroundings.

Of course, once it’s ready, you’ll have to try it as part of a full menu that also includes starters and dessert!

Count me in!

#4 My First Paella

This paella class in the Ruzafa neighbourhood starts with a tour of the market, which is one of the most distinctive buildings in the area thanks to its colourful façade. Here, you’ll choose your ingredients before heading to the kitchen to prepare the recipe of your choice.

You can choose between Valencian paella, seafood paella or vegetarian paella.

Let’s taste it!

Would you prefer to eat it without putting on a chef’s hat?

You can also enjoy an authentic Valencian paella after a boat trip on the Albufera, surrounded by rice paddies, or in one of the best restaurants in Valencia, where this dish has been perfected for centuries.
