IVAM becomes a space for reflecting on the scars and traces we leave on the landscape
What comes to mind when you think of the word body? You probably think of skin, bones, muscles or yourself.
The exhibition at IVAM until 25 October 2026 is entitled «I Call You Body» and invites you to explore an idea more intriguing than the question we have just asked you.
The exhibition proposes seeing landscapes, stones, earth and even electricity grids as living bodies that feel, change and are capable of leaving traces.
Through 52 works — paintings, photographs, sculptures and installations created specifically for the museum — Valencian artist Irene Grau and Italian artist Marco Giordano come together to make you reflect on our relationship with the planet.
Irene Grau explores the underground and the mountains.
She does so by experimenting with raw materials such as clay, iron and natural pigments to reveal the scars that mining and the tile industry have left — and continue to leave — on Valencia’s landscape and nature.
Marco Giordano, meanwhile, focuses on energy.
Through his striking sculptural installations, he encourages you to ask yourself all kinds of questions: where does electricity come from? How do the infrastructures that produce it impact the planet and our lives?
