“Maria Stuarda” puts the finishing touch on the year of opera at Les Arts
Categories: Christmas, music.
TOURISTIC AREA: City of Arts and Alameda
Donizzeti's opera with the same cast as “Anne Boleyn”.
The opera season closes the year with one of Gaetano Donizzeti's main works, “Maria Stuarda”. From December 10 to 22 in the Main Hall of Les Arts.
In this second installment of Donizetti's Tudor trilogy, Dutch stage director Jetske Mijnssen turns her attention once again to theatrical action, confronting Queen Elizabeth I's fears with those of her cousin Mary Stuart in a claustrophobic climate brought on by bare and narrow rooms.
Under the precise bel canto baton of maestro Maurizio Benini, the cast that reaped formidable success with Anne Boleyn is reunited, this time with Italian soprano Eleonora Buratto debuting in the role of Maria Stuarda, facing the temperamental Elizabeth I of Valencian mezzo-soprano Silvia Tro Santafé, together with tenor Ismael Jordi.
Don't miss the last opera of the year at Les Arts, Donizzeti, one of the great Italian masters of the 19th century, in a spectacular co-production of the operas of Valencia, Amsterdam and Naples.
