The Fallas committees bring folklore to the streets at the 28th “Balls al Carrer” (Dancing in the Street) Festival in Valencia.
The series of traditional dances through the streets and squares of Valencia is back!
These traditional dances, performed to the rhythm of the dolçaina and tabalet —the Valencian names for the pipe and the tabor or drum— have a ritual character associated with festive days and are a true display of rhythm and coordination.
Each group marches in pairs dressed in regional costumes, taking the shape of the space where they dance: long if it is in a street or circular if it is in a square.
Once in position, they follow the beat of the tabal and, when the dolçaina begins to play, they move and dance to the sound of the melody.
The performance takes place from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm, with up to seven Fallas commissions performing each day.
With "Balls al Carrer" (Dancing in the Street), you have the perfect opportunity to see Valencian traditional dress and the music of Valencia's typical instruments up close.
And look at how many dates there are to enjoy it!
