From January 19 to 29, the opera "Jenůfa" is coming to the main stage of Les Arts.
This work was composed by the Czech Leoš Janáček and inspired by the play "Její pastorkyňa" -Her Stepdaughter- by Gabriela Preissová.
"Jenůfa" is a striking rural drama where the stories of the inhabitants of a remote village are told with rawness and realism.
This uncompassionate essay involves issues such as infanticide, the tragic consequences of being outcast from society for moral offenses, jealousy, alienation, redemption, and hope for a better future.
This opera is nothing like the classics, and is instead full of confused and violent emotions, existential claustrophobia, fears and secrets.
