Tribute exhibition to Juana Francés at IVAM
Categories: exhibitions.
TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
Come and celebrate the 100th birthday of the artist Juana Francés at the IVAM
The IVAM celebrates the centenary of the birth of Juana Francés with an exhibition that explores the different stages in the career of this artist from Alicante.
Juana Francés was a key figure in the artistic avant-garde in Spain in the 1950s, being the only woman in the El Paso group.
She constantly struggled to carve out a space for herself in the male-dominated art world, and this is reflected in her work, which is full of gestures and experimentation with materials such as river sand and earth-toned textures.
Through this exhibition you will be able to get to know her most intimate and personal vision and explore not only her words and writings, but also to follow her creative process.
From her series "El hombre y la ciudad" [Man and the City], which portrays industrialisation, to her latest series of works inspired by the underwater world, such as "Fondos Submarinos" [Underwater Depths] and "Cometas" [Kites]. You can see it all!
It is available from 6 November 2024 until 9 March 2025 and, as a novelty, includes pieces that have never been exhibited before.
Are you going to miss this opportunity to celebrate the legacy of a pioneer of contemporary art and to discover her capacity for innovation and resistance at IVAM?
So book your ticket now to see the Juana Francés exhibition.
