The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía’s 2026–2027 season features a programme that is sure to delight opera lovers.
From Verdi to Mozart, via Adams, Wagner and Bizet, the stage of this Valencian venue is set to become a home for opera, featuring major productions, world-class conductors and international vocalists.

17 and 18 September 2026 — “Estètica i massacre” by Carles Prat
A contemporary production that reflects on the contradictions of today’s society, blending the beauty of art with the harshness of reality in a striking staging.
29 September and 2, 4, 7, 10, 12 and 15 October 2026 — “Carmen” by Georges Bizet
This story tells of a woman devoted to her work in the tobacco industry who crosses paths with a soldier who ends up losing his head (and his temper) over her.
25 October 2026 — “Riccardo Primo” by Georg Friedrich Händel
A Baroque gem that tells how King Richard the Lionheart travels to Cyprus to rescue his betrothed, but encounters a tyrant who will do everything possible to complicate his life and wedding.
10, 13, 16, 19 and 22 December 2026 — “Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner
One of the most mysterious and epic romantic fables in musical theatre.
A knight arrives on a swan to rescue a damsel in distress, on the sole condition that she must never ask him who he is or where he comes from.
19, 21, 24, 26 and 29 January 2027 — “La clemenza di Tito” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
A political drama where betrayal and forgiveness play a game of deception.
An emperor discovers that his best friend and the woman he loves are conspiring to get rid of him, putting him in a dilemma of punishing or forgiving.
28 February and 3, 7, 10 and 13 March 2027 — “Simon Boccanegra” by Giuseppe Verdi
A former privateer turned ruler attempts to bring peace to his people whilst desperately searching for his missing daughter, surrounded by enemies and conspiracies that will stand in his way.
22, 24, 28 and 30 April and 2 May 2027 — “Nixon in China” by John Adams
A 20th-century classic that revives the historic and surreal 1972 meeting between US President Richard Nixon and Mao Zedong, in the midst of the Cold War, in the form of an opera.
4, 9, 12, 15 and 17 June 2027 — “Adriana Lecouvreur” by Francesco Cilea
The season’s grand finale is provided by the great theatrical actress who stars in this story. She falls in love with the wrong man and ends up in open warfare with a powerful princess who decides to take revenge on her in the most twisted way possible.
