If you are one of those who think early music belongs firmly in the past, get ready to change your mind at the Palau de les Arts with an exclusive series that brings Baroque music back to Valencia’s stages.
Through rediscovered scores and with the help of some of the world’s most prestigious ensembles specialising in this repertoire, both Les Arts and the iconic Church of San Nicolás will be filled with music.
Expect dramatic plots, oratorios, recitals and a showcase of voices that will leave you speechless.

21 October 2026 at 7:30 pm — “Idylle” by Lea Desandre & Thomas Dunford – Les Arts
A journey through three centuries of French songs about love, melancholy, joy and desire. Bringing the performance to life on the Les Arts stage will be a perfectly matched mezzo-soprano and lutenist.
25 October 2026 at 6:00 pm — “Riccardo Primo” by Georg Friedrich Handel – Les Arts
A Baroque gem presented in concert form, telling the story of King Richard the Lionheart’s journey to Cyprus to rescue his fiancée, only to encounter a tyrant determined to make life difficult for him.
28 November 2026 at 7:00 pm — “Farinelli” by Franco Fagioli – Les Arts
A tribute to the most famous castrato of the 18th century, a legendary figure whose voice was so extraordinary that the Spanish court engaged him to help alleviate the depression of King Philip V. The acclaimed countertenor Franco Fagioli will appear at Les Arts to recreate the music associated with this legendary singer.
27 January 2027 at 7:30 pm — “Il martirio di Santa Teodosia” by Alessandro Scarlatti – Les Arts
The plot introduces a young woman who would rather reject the Roman governor’s son than renounce her beliefs, leading to a deeply moving conclusion.
1 April 2027 at 7:30 pm — “Alienta, humano desvelo” by Maite Beaumont – Church of San Nicolás
A spiritual programme designed to be enjoyed beneath the spectacular ceilings of the Church of San Nicolás, accompanied by the voice of Maite Beaumont and supported only by the sounds of a cello and a theorbo.
17 April 2027 at 7:00 pm — “Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno” by Georg Friedrich Handel – Les Arts
A vocal work in which the character Beauty finds herself at a crossroads. She must choose between the temptations offered by Pleasure and the reality presented by Time and Disillusionment.
22 April 2027 at 7:30 pm — “The Two Faces of Love” by Bruno de Sá & Harmonia del Parnàs – Les Arts
A special concert devoted to the musical passions of José de Nebra.
To recreate the magic of the Baroque era, Bruno de Sá will perform both the female and male roles that, during the period’s golden age, were sung by the celebrated castrati.
