Entrance to the Church of Los Santos Juanes: a jewel with eight centuries of history
After five years of meticulous restoration, the Church of Los Santos Juanes once again dazzles as one of the great jewels of Valencian heritage. Declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument, this temple—located between the Silk Exchange and the Central Market—has regained its spiritual, artistic and architectural strength thanks to the efforts of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation.
This is currently a Catholic church, but it wasn't always so: it is one of those examples of a mosque atop which a church was then built. It was in the mid-13th century, in Gothic style, but, as history would have it, it ended up being mostly Baroque by the 17th century.
It preserves elements from its Gothic past, including the popular rose window known as the "O de Sant Joan"; pay attention to find out the interesting reason for its name.
But that's not the only legend that surrounds the Church of Los Santos Juanes. Come learn them all and admire the fabulous frescoes painted by Antonio Palomino, as well as the thirteen statues that safeguard the church.

How it works

• Visiting Hours (with Barroc audiovisual): Thursday and Friday at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.
• Approximate visiting times: 15 minutes for the audiovisual + 50 minutes for the visit.
• We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early.
• This activity is free for children aged 0-12 inclusive.
• Reduced ticket for pensioners, retirees, students, the unemployed, people with disabilities and large families.

Tickets can't be cancelled or refunded, but you can request a change of date by writing to customer service at vlcshop@visitvalencia.com. You must provide at least 48 hours' notice.
