The center, located in the Palacio de las Comunicaciones, will include a multisensory room about Las Fallas

Next year, Valencia will add a new center to its museum offerings where 220 works by Joaquín Sorolla can be admired. Sorolla is the most internationally recognized Valencian painter, known for capturing Mediterranean light like no one else. The new museum will be located in the Palacio de las Comunicaciones, situated in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, right in the city center.

Sorolla's works will come to the city of Turia thanks to an agreement signed with the Hispanic Society of America, an institution founded in 1904 and based in New York, which compiles free public works and documents for the study of the art and culture of Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and the Philippines. This initiative will make the site the European headquarters of the institution

The museum will also feature a multisensory room dedicated to Valencia’s most iconic festival, Las Fallas, through a 360º immersive experience in a cube where visitors can feel some of the most important events of the celebration, such as the mascletà or the flower offering to the city's patroness, Our Lady of the Forsaken.

The new museum dedicated to Sorolla will expand the city's museum and cultural offerings and will strengthen its position as a leading international art destination. Today, some of Joaquín Sorolla's works can be seen at the Museo de Bellas Artes de València, the second-largest art gallery in Spain after the Prado Museum in Madrid. Around thirty other museums form a complete and diverse cultural offering, including the IVAM (the first modern art museum created in Spain); the Hortensia Herrero Art Center, with more than 100 works by artists such as Anselm Kiefer, Anish Kapoor, Mat Collishaw, Tony Cragg, and Andreas Gursky; the National Ceramics Museum, housed in a palace exhibiting ceramic works from the 8th century to today; or the Bombas Gens Centre d'Arts Digitals, specialized in immersive and audiovisual projects.
