With the opening of the new centre, the city prepares for the start of the 3rd Jubilee Year of the relic.
Valencia has inaugurated the new Visitor Reception Centre of the Holy Grail, a new welcome and information point during the 3rd Jubilee Year of the cup, which will begin next Thursday, 30 October.
Located in the historic Almudín building, just steps from the Cathedral, the centre offers a visual and educational journey through the origin, meaning, and travels of the Holy Grail until its arrival in Valencia. The exhibition, made up of eight explanatory panels, allows visitors to delve into the documents and artworks that have shaped the history of this unique piece, a symbol of faith and heritage.
The experience is enhanced by an audio guide available in Spanish and English via QR code, a touchscreen with historical documents, a chronological projection of key milestones, and an educational area with audiovisual content for deeper understanding.
The Almudín itself, with its medieval basilica-style architecture and mural paintings related to grain trade and guilds, adds exceptional heritage value to the visit.
The centre is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00. On Sundays and public holidays, it opens from 10:00 to 14:00.
Plans to discover all the details of the Holy Grail in Valencia
The inauguration of the Visitor Reception Centre marks the beginning of a year full of cultural, spiritual, and touristic activities centred around one of Christianity’s most revered relics.
One of the highlights is the themed guided tour held every Friday at 10:00, in Spanish and English. This two-hour route starts at the Tourist Office in Plaza del Ayuntamiento and follows the trail of the Holy Grail through the city, stopping at the Church of San Martín, Plaza del Patriarca, Church of San Juan del Hospital, Casa de Sabina Suey, and the Cathedral of Valencia.
Additionally, the MuVIM will host an exhibition dedicated to the Holy Grail, offering a complementary perspective from a museum and documentary viewpoint.
Throughout the year, masses are held every Thursday at 19:30 in the Chapel of the Holy Chalice, located in the Cathedral of Valencia, offering a space for reflection and spirituality.
