Valencia will host the Spain Sail Grand Prix for the next three seasons after signing an agreement that secures its permanent inclusion on the Rolex SailGP Championship calendar through to 2028. The first edition of the event in the city will take place on 5–6 September 2026, marking a new milestone in València’s international positioning as a leading tourism and sports destination

It represents a strategic commitment to a global event that combines technological innovation, sustainability and high-speed spectacle, attracting a highly qualified international audience.
A natural setting for world-class sailing
Valencia’s selection as host city reflects its deep historical connection to the sea and its exceptional sailing conditions. From its historic port to its internationally renowned marina, the city has demonstrated solid experience over the years in hosting major nautical and sporting events, such as the America’s Cup or the Trofeo SM La Reina, offering a unique setting for both competition and spectators.
Valencia’s waterfront will provide the backdrop for a competition featuring national teams racing state-of-the-art F50 catamarans capable of exceeding 100 km/h, powered by the natural force of the wind.
Tourism impact and legacy for the city
The arrival of SailGP strengthens Valencia’s international profile and generates significant impact in terms of tourism visibility, visitor attraction and economic activity. The event will also serve as a showcase for the city’s and the Comunitat Valenciana’s organisational capacity to host top-level sporting competitions, as well as their commitment to sustainable, innovative tourism linked to the Mediterranean.
Tickets for the Spain Sail Grand Prix in Valencia will go on sale in February, with early access available through the official SailGP+ programme, which offers exclusive benefits and premium experiences for fans.
With this agreement, Valencia takes another step forward in its strategy to attract major international events, consolidating its position as a destination where sport, sea, culture and lifestyle come together in a distinctive tourism offering.
