Street Art in Valencia: Discover its Origins at the Centre del Carme
Categories: exhibitions.
TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
Come to the Centre del Carme and discover the origins of Valencian urban art.
When did Valencia start to fill with urban art?
Before the arrival of mobile phones with cameras, Valencian artists were already going out at night to paint the streets. And that was the beginning of something much bigger.
The exhibition "PRINCIPIOS", on view at the Centre del Carme until 26 October 2025, looks back at the beginnings and evolution of ten urban artists from Valencia who have taken their art all over the world.
We’re talking about Barbiturikills, Cachetejack, David de Limón, Deih, Dulk, Hyuro, Julieta XLF, Pichiavo, Vinz Feel Free and Xelon.
And how did they start? With paint, a digital camera, an internet connection, and a great desire to create.
Thanks to the internet and blogs, what once remained in the neighbourhood began to travel to other cities, other countries, and other audiences.
Valencian urban art went global without ever passing through a gallery!
Here, you’ll discover the beginnings of these artists through archival images, original works, personal items, and murals created especially for this exhibition.
If you’ve ever wondered who is behind all those paintings around Valencia, you have to come!
