Valencia awakens amidst gunpowder and tradition
The Macrodespertà on 22 February is the great Fallas wake-up call.
Thousands of falleros and falleras will take over the streets of València in an explosion of noise, gunpowder and emotion to send a very clear message: the Fallas 2026 are here. A massive, deafening and high-energy parade that runs through the heart of the city on the last Sunday of February, coinciding with the day of the Crida.
The Macrodespertà 2026, promoted by the Falla Corona and carried out by Pirotecnia Alto Palancia, will mark the official start of the countdown to the big Fallas days.
Its goal: to wake the city up from its winter “slumber” and let everyone know that the Fallas are already here. It’s not just a parade; it’s a declaration of intent powered by gunpowder.
Afterwards, a traditional fallero breakfast will be offered to all participants to recharge their batteries.
But the day doesn’t end there.
After the morning’s gunpowder, music takes centre stage with the Entrance of the Marching Bands at 12:00 pm, setting off from Plaza de Tetuán and heading to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, filling the city centre with pasodobles, excitement and a festive atmosphere.
And when the clock strikes 2:00 pm, one of the most eagerly awaited moments arrives: the mascletà in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, performed by Pirotecnia Valenciana — a collective roar that makes the whole of València tremble.
In the afternoon, from the imposing Serranos Towers, the Fallera Mayor and the Fallera Mayor Infantil will give the official kick-off to the Fallas 2026.
The Crida will give voice to the fallero spirit and bring the day to a perfect close with a light and colour show lighting up the night sky over València.
