The streets of Valencia light up to welcome the Fallas.
Valencia is transformed in the run-up to the Fallas festival: churrerías (churro stands) on every corner, gunpowder in the air, decked-out streets and an atmosphere found only once a year.
One thing that marks the start of the Fallas festival is the Street Lights Competition, in which different committees compete to turn their streets into authentic works of artistic illumination.
This year, the Fallas lights switch-on will begin on March 7 at 8:00 PM and will be repeated every half hour until 11:00 PM, continuing until March 19.
Category A - Fallas Lighting
The classics return with displays that will leave you speechless:
1st Prize Lighting 2025: Falla Cuba-Puerto Rico (Calle Puerto Rico, 54, Ruzafa), winner for the last seven consecutive years.
2nd Prize Lighting 2025: Falla Sueca-Literato Azorín (C/ Literato Azorín, 5, Ruzafa).
3rd Prize Lighting 2025: Falla Malvarrosa-Antonio Ponz-Cavite (Av. de la Malva-Rosa, 92, Poblados Marítimos).
4th Prize Lighting 2025: Falla Duc de Gaeta-La Pobla de Farnals (C/ de la Pobla de Farnals, 60, Camins al Grau).
5th Prize Lighting 2025: Falla Cuba-Literato Azorín (C/ Literato Azorín, n° 37, Eixample).
6th Prize Lighting 2025: Falla Reino de València-San Valero (C/ Arquebisbe Melo, n° 7, Eixample).
Category B - Fallas Lighting
1st Prize Lighting B: Falla Doctor Serrano-Carles Cervera-Clero (C/ Clero, 11, Eixample).
2nd Prize Lighting B: Falla Riu Tajo-Cavite (C/ de Sant Joan de Déu, 28, Poblats Marítims).
3rd Prize Lighting B: Falla Ferros-Joan Baptista Perales (C/ de la Fusta, 3, Camins al Grau).
4th Prize Lighting B: Falla Cadis-Els Centelles (C/ dels Centelles, 23, L'Eixample).
5th Prize Lighting B: Falla Arxiduc Carles-Músic Gomis (C/ del Músic Gomis, 34, Patraix).

And if you think that only in Russafa you can experience this spectacle, think again.
In Category B, 26 fallera commissions from different neighbourhoods, such as Camins al Grau, Malvarrosa, Zaidía, Quatre Carreres, Patraix and Pla del Remei, have prepared their own creations to fill the city with light and colour.
Mind you, some streets have decided to get a head start and have already lit up theirs to create a Fallas atmosphere, such as Almirante Cadarso-Conde Altea, which, although it does not participate in the competition, has kicked off the light show.
Now there is only one thing left... Take to the streets and be amazed by the light and festival celebrations that fill Valencia!
