The Christmas spirit fills the streets of Valencia with Christmas lights

The shining Christmas lights mark the beginning of this long-awaited holiday.
Which is why, on December 1 at 7:00 pm, the spirit of Christmas is taking over Valencia with the official lighting ceremony.

From that day on, every evening from 6 pm to midnight, the Christmas decorations will fill the city streets with light, magic and color. On weekends, the lights will stay on half an hour longer.

The goal is clear: to dress up the city for Christmas, especially the busiest streets, such as shopping and pedestrian streets.
And the municipal markets too!
In the case of the markets, including Mercado de Colón, in addition to lights there will also be Christmas ornaments, and on the façade of City Hall as well.
In total, the festive display includes 225 luminous arches in 40 streets, 20 luminous Bon Nadal (Merry Christmas) signs and 19 Christmas trees in different districts of the city.

But that's not all.
There are LEDs, lighted gift boxes up to four meters high, LED wreaths in buildings, squares and streets, and a lighted star of Bethlehem on the esplanade of the Puente de Serranos, just opposite the Torres de Serranos.
As for the monumental streetlights that dot the city, the ones in Grandes Vías del Marqués del Turia, intersection of Antiguo Reino and Germanías, Ramón y Cajal, Fernando el Católico, Paseo de la Petxina, Calle Pintor López, Plaza de Tetuán, Plaza de América and Jacinto Benavente will be decorated.

But it's not just lights!

Plaza del Ayuntamiento will feature a 20-meter tall Christmas tree, decorated with balls and gift boxes, lights, and spiced up with Christmas music. And there will also be a life-sized crèche.

Furthermore, around 10,000 vibrant poinsettia plants decorate the city during Christmas. You can see them at various locations, including the Puente de las Flores, Jardin del Turia, Jardin de Ayora, Jardines del Real, la Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Paseo de la Alameda or Parque Central.

This year, let yourself get carried away by the spirit of Christmas and enjoy the light show that the city of Valencia has in store for you.

Bon Nadal!
