Home of illustrious artists in the heart of the historic center
José Benlliure is one of the most distinguished Valencian painters and a member of a family of illustrious artists. A contemporary of Joaquín Sorolla (late 19th – early 20th century), he is known for his "costumbrista" works, which reflect traditional Valencian scenes. The house-studio where he lived in València since 1912 is now an interesting museum celebrating his life and work.
The museum houses a collection of works by Benlliure and other related artists, as well as temporary exhibitions. Visitors can explore different rooms, including the studio where he painted many of his works, and lounges decorated with antique furniture from Austria and Italy.
