Serranos Street Air Raid Shelter
It was built in 1937 and had the capacity to accommodate 400 people.
It is a three-aisle hall separated by two rows of concrete pillars that support the lintelled roof... which is over 1.50 meters thick! There were benches for sitting along the walls and around the columns, and it still retains the “Refugio” sign, made with characteristic Art Deco lettering.
After the war, this shelter served various purposes. It has been everything from a banana warehouse to a "casal fallero" (Fallas community clubhouse).
Following an extensive restoration, it opened in 2018 as a space for cultural events and initiatives, where guided tours are organized, and it is a Site of Local Relevance.
