Seven Christmas markets
Categories: parties and traditions, urban festival.
TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
You will find crafts, food, toys and fashion at the Valencia Christmas markets with seven different markets to visit. The most traditional one is set up on the streets around the Central Market, with all kinds of Christmas item (1st December to 6th January). If you are looking for handmade gifts to take home, stop by the Craft Fair (Feria de Artesanía) at Plaza de la Reina (30th November to 6th January) or the Craft Show (Muestra de Artesanía) at the Colon Market (13th December to 7th January) where you can find local food, ceramics, jewellery, wooden toys or leather goods. If you have a nativity at home, you can buy some pieces to add to your collection at the Nativity Market (Mercado de Belenistas) at the Colon Market. It is a unique showcase of nativity characters and accessories, all handcrafted by the Nativity Association of the Region of Valencia.
However, if you are looking for something different and unique, the place you are looking for is Mercado de Tapinería. This original space will have its own Christmas market from 20th December to 5th January. Ho-ho-ho!
Let’s not forget the amazing City of Arts and Sciences that will have 35 stalls full of ideas so you can find the perfect gift (14th December to 6th January).
In Spain, gifts are traditionally given to children on 6th January by the Three Kings, therefore this is why there is a Christmas Market for this celebration in the seafaring neighbourhood of Cabañal from 3rd to 5th January.
