«Nadal en valencià» returns to San Miguel de los Reyes

The program of this year's "Nadal en valencià" features a tour of music from the 14th to the 16th centuries with an artistic and cultural show every evening at 7 p.m. from December 27 to 29.

The setting could not be more appropriate: the church of the monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes, which is a jewel of Valencia's Renaissance architecture and a symbol of our Golden Age.

This is what's in store for you:

- To whet your appetite, the concert "Bella de vós", a selection from the songbook of the Duke of Calabria - or Cancionero de Uppsala - with songs for two and three voices, will be held on Tuesday the 27th. 

Beatriz Lafont will play the Renaissance guitar and sing, with Robert Cases accompanying her on the viola and Carles Magraner and Fernando Marín on violas.

- Secondly, "Cançó d 'opòsits" is an artistic offering presented by Robert Cases and Toni Aparisi on Wednesday, December 28, that combines poetry from Valencia's Golden Age, dance and music.

It includes pieces by such prominent composers as Ausiàs March, Joan Roig de Corella and Jordi de Sant Jordi, and universal themes such as love, the contradictions between the divine and the human and the search for the meaning of life.

- Finally, "Nadal valencià" offers up a delicious dessert on Thursday, December 29 with a program of traditional Valencian music.

It includes carols, traditional dance songs, fandangos, jotas, seguidillas, working songs and more. All performed by Ensemble La Rondalla.
