Historic Horse Races Return to Pinedo Beach
On August 10, 11, 13, and 14, 2026, Creu de la Conca beach in Pinedo will host the traditional «Correguda de Joies», an equestrian competition where participants race 700 meters along the beach bareback, without any saddle.
Over three days, riders will compete in knockout duels against a unique natural backdrop, aiming to win the event and receive the «joia» as a trophy —a silk scarf on a laurel wreath—.
On the first day, Monday August 10, veterinarians will weigh and inspect the animals, and male and female riders will carry out the first races.
More races will take place on the following days —August 11, 13, and 14— with the trophy presentation held on the final day.
More than a Century of Tradition
Historically, over 150 years ago, most towns in the l’Horta Sud region celebrated this unique horse race in their farmland.
Today, Pinedo is the only Valencian town that still enjoys the «Correguda de Joies» during its patron saint festivities, so don’t miss the opportunity to come to València and experience this cultural event of tourist interest.
Tradition, history, and sport await you on the beach of this village. Don’t miss it!
