Discover different ways to have a frightfully good time this Halloween
The scariest night of the year is coming.
Yes! An evening when you'll find pumpkins, cobwebs, costumes and a million excuses to have a spooky time everywhere you look.
And since València has plans for every taste, this Halloween promises to be anything but boring.
So bring out your most mysterious side and get ready to enjoy several proposals spread across the city.
We bring you five!
#1 Halloween Special at the Iluziona Museum
Iluziona is already one of València's most curious museums, but at Halloween it becomes something even wilder.
Until 2 November all its rooms turn into spine-chilling and hilarious spaces, where optical illusions, trompe-l'œil, the virtual reality of the 4D simulator and special effects combine with cobwebs, eerie lights and sounds that will give you goosebumps.
That's the least you can expect!
The whole route is full of sets you can step into, pose in, shoot videos and incredible photos, and fool your followers.
There'll be no shortage of sweets and costumes. After all, it's Halloween!
#2 The Golfus Cabaret, Halloween Edition, at Casino Cirsa
Want a dinner show on Halloween?
On 31 October Casino Cirsa hosts a new edition of “The Golfus Cabaret”, a cabaret with dinner and a live show that promises you'll die… of laughter!
Besides the show, the ticket includes a delicious dinner that starts with stuffed courgette with sautéed king prawns, vegetables and carabinero sauce, continues with slow-cooked pork presa with apples, glazed pearl onions and citrus sauce and, to finish, chocolate in textures with red berry sauce.
How does that sound?
If you're in the mood for a touch of mystery, you can also add a tarot reading with María Selva to the experience.
#3 Jazz & Stars: Halloween Night at the Only YOU hotel
Can Halloween sound like jazz?
On 29 October, from 19:00 to 21:00, the Only YOU València hotel will put swing centre stage, along with plenty of film classics, but with a pinch of Halloween.
On stage, the band Babalu will perform live songs inspired by “Thriller”, “Jeepers Creepers”, “The Addams Family”, “Ghostbusters” and “American Horror Story”.
And since a good autumn evening isn't complete without a nibble, the ticket includes a drink and a tapa.
#4 Halloween Visit to “José Segrelles. The Fantastic Illustrator” at the CCCC
If you like your scares with plenty of art, note down this plan taking place on 28 October at 19:30 at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC).
The exhibition's curator and the artist's relative, José Enrique Segrelles, offers a special Halloween tour of the scariest side of this Valencian illustrator, the one that inspired creatures such as Gollum from “The Lord of the Rings” or the Faun in Guillermo del Toro's film.
The tour starts on the street, at the CCCC façade, where Segrelles's creatures come to life thanks to an animation by Sergio Palau, and continues in the Dormitorio room. What surprises await inside?
It lasts 60 minutes and is free, but you need to register to take part.
#5 Try the artisan sweets from València's bakeries
At Halloween you can sweeten up by going “Trick or Treat” for sweets and candy, right?
Well, in València we'd rather save our appetite for the next day — 1 November — and celebrate All Saints' Day with sweets made by hand in the city's bakeries.
We mean huesos de santo, buñuelos and panellets.
You have to try them all!
Huesos de santo are a marzipan cylinder with candied egg yolk that melts in your mouth, and buñuelos are little balls of fried dough filled with cream or pumpkin and covered in sugar.
And, of course, leave room for panellets, a typical Mediterranean bite made with ground almond, sugar and pine nuts.
To get them, just go to a neighbourhood bakery and buy the ones you fancy most.
And if you want more plans to enjoy this day in València without a Halloween twist, take a look at everything happening in our city in the events calendar.
You won't know where to start!
