MUMA València (Marian Museum of Our Lady of the Forsaken)
Basílica de los Desamparados, Plaza de l'Almoina, 46003 - València

TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
Inside the Royal Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken is the MUMA, the museum dedicated to the Patron Saint of Valencia, Our Lady of the Holy Innocent Martyrs and Forsaken.
The Marian Museum houses more than 400 works of art about the Virgin of the Forsaken, the Basilica and her Archconfraternity, which are preserved from the Renaissance to the present day.
The exhibition has a varied selection of works by great masters of painting such as Antonio Palomino, Ignacio Vergara, Vicente Requena, Gaspar de la Huerta, Manuel Martín Lavernia, Mariano Benlliure, Salvador Tuset, Josep Renau and Ramón Stolz, as well as a large collection of objects from different disciplines: painting on panel or canvas, sculpture, engraving, ceramics, textiles, gold and silverware, as well as the founding documents.
The MUMA is accessed through the door of the Plaza de la Almoina, by stairs and lift, to the first floor of the Basilica, where you can see, in addition to the exhibition, the interior of the Chapel, the dome painted by Antonio Palomino and the image of the Patron Saint herself. It is also very interesting to contemplate the Plaza de la Virgen itself through the balconies, with the building of the Generalitat or the Cathedral, as well as accessing the 17th century arch that communicates with the Valencian Seu.
