Welcome summer by celebrating the night of San Juan

Categories: parties and traditions.

TOURISTIC AREA: Sea towns, Marina and beaches

The summer solstice is celebrated in a big way on the beaches of Valencia too, as fire, magic and fun are guaranteed on the Night of San Juan.

Ready to ring in the summer in the Mediterranean?

Distribution of firewood

Make your own purifying bonfire with free firewood that trucks marked with flags will pass from 6 PM. You will find them at nine points scattered between the beaches of Malvarrosa and Cabañal-Cañamelar.

Keep in mind that starting fires on the beaches of the L’Albufera Natural Park, from Pinedo to Perellonet, is prohibited.

Once you have your bonfire going, don't forget the midnight rituals, like jumping over the waves or the flames, which is supposed to bring good luck.

And, of course, remember that the beach belongs to everyone, so leave it the same as when you got there.

Although the official cleaning service is huge, you have to pick up everything you dirty when the party ends and leave the area just like you found it.

Do your part to make sure the beach is with us for a long time :)

Public transportation with special hours

Forget the car!

On the night of San Juan, many people will want to go to the beaches, so the best thing you can do is use public transportation.

Bus lines 19, 25, 31, 32, 92, 93, 95, 98 and 99 stop a few meters away from the shore, and they will run more frequently than usual.

Their hours of operation will also be expanded so you can party well into the night.

The metro and tram will also be running non-stop through the night.

Outdoor dances

If you want to enjoy the music and the good atmosphere, a lot of verbenas (outdoor dances) are waiting for you scattered throughout the different neighborhoods of the city. It's an alternative to the beach, but just as fun!

The party's over

Leave the beach by 4 AM so cleaning personnel can do their job.

Don't miss out on one of the most magical nights of the year!
