Feast of Our Lady of the Forsaken 2026
Categories: parties and traditions.
TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center
Come and discover the full program of one of the most anticipated Valencian traditions of the year.
From May 8 to 20, 2026, Valencians celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Forsaken (Virgen de los Desamparados), the city's patron saint, affectionately known as "La Geperudeta."
She is known by this name due to the slight tilt of her head as she looks down at the people, which makes it appear as though she has a small hump or "chepa", hence this endearing nickname. Starting from May 7, you can see the spectacular 80-square-meter floral tapestry that recreates the Baroque paintings by Antonio Palomino in the Basilica.
Are you going to miss the program of events prepared to honor her? The agenda includes masses, processions, mascletás, firework displays, performances, and much more.
