Mona Hatoum at IVAM

Categories: exhibitions.

TOURISTIC AREA: Historical center

The show, which was awarded the 2020 Julio González Prize, brings together sculptures and large installations by this Palestinian artist born in Beirut, all created over the past two decades.

The exhibition is a true homage to a key artist in modern contemporary art and only the second woman to receive this award in its twenty-year history. Other artists who have been recognized include George Baselitz, Robert Rauschenberg, Pierre Soulages, Miquel Navarro, Jasper Johns, Christian Boltanski, Annette Messager and Andreu Alfaro.

The show, which will run from 16th April to 12 September, presents vulnerable bodies, out-of-scale implements and furniture that become objects of beauty and at the same time distressing, inviting us to reflect on the space and time in which we live. The artist is noted for beautiful geometry, the graphic quality of her sculptures in space, and for how her installations forge a very direct relationship with the viewer.

Visit this award-winning show until 12th September at the IVAM!
