Folklore, color and good music with "El cantor de México" at Les Arts

If you're looking for a show full of fantasy, color, comedy, extravagance and good music, don't miss "El cantor de México" (The Mexican Singer).

From November 4 to 12, the classic operetta by Francis López - renovated and reimagined by Emilio Sagi - is coming to the main stage at Les Arts.

This unique work tells the story of Vicente, a young Mexican fan of the art of folk singing who, by surprise, is invited by an arts businessman to travel to Paris.

But what at first seems like a simple feat ends up becoming a challenge as Vicente must replace the great artist Miguel Moreno in "El cantor de México".

Thus begins this entertaining adventure starring tenor José Luis Solá and featuring a guest appearance by Rossy de Palma, with a brilliant cast of singers and dancers and, of course, a great orchestra playing the soundtrack throughout the show.

"El cantor de México" is a hilarious journey set in exotic places.

The fantastic combination of outsized characters, brightly colored fruits and flowers, elements of Mexican folklore and pieces of Parisian life results in an impressive set design, in the purest kitsch style, that transports the viewer to a tropical, technicolor world.

Sagi has managed to transform this classic operetta by revisiting the vigor, festive air, joy and hilarious humor that characterizes it to give the audience an enjoyable evening.
