The Festivities of the Cross (Festival of the Cross), declared of tourist interest, commemorate an amazing event that occurred in 1411: the appearance of the image of the Santísimo Cristo del Grao floating on a wooden ladder in the sea.
Legend has it that the residents of Russafa and El Grao fought over the statue in a dispute that required the intervention of Saint Vincent Ferrer himself and Pope Luna.
This tradition sees sailors pay tribute to their patron saint every year and, on this occasion, it is being celebrated in the Grao neighbourhood until 3 May 2026.
Live music, fireworks, processions and various street events await you here.
