Auteur cinema at the Filmoteca for €2.50

The Filmoteca Valenciana is dedicating a large part of 2026 to Billy Wilder, one of the essential figures of 20th-century cinema.

Can’t quite place the name?

Born in Europe, Billy Wilder fled Nazism for the United States and went on to become one of Hollywood's greatest masterminds for nearly five decades.

He directed, wrote, and produced some of the last century’s most influential films, moving with staggering ease between comedy, drama, film noir, and thrillers.

Simply put: he tackled every genre and passed with flying colors every single time.

Now is the time to discover—or rediscover—his cinematic masterpieces one by one, with tickets for just €2.50.

There’s no excuse!

The program will allow you to see true gems such as "Arise, My Love" or "Bluebeard's Eighth Wife" on the big screen.

Full Schedule: Billy Wilder Film Cycle

February 28 at 8:00 PM and March 1 at 6:00 PM – "Midnight" – Spanish Subtitles

A young woman with no money or luggage arrives in Paris and ends up posing as a Hungarian noblewoman at a high-society party.

March 6 at 6:00 PM and March 8 at 8:00 PM – "Ball of Fire"

A group of isolated academics (all bachelors and one widower) are writing an encyclopedia thanks to a donation. The arrival of a cabaret dancer reveals that, despite their great intellect, they know nothing about real life.

March 21 at 8:15 PM and March 22 at 6:00 PM – "Death Mills"

At the end of the war, Wilder returned to Europe to assist in the "denazification" of the German industry. After viewing footage filmed at liberated camps, he decided to make a film to show the world—and the Germans themselves—the horrors committed there.

March 22 at 8:15 PM and March 28 at 6:00 PM – "The Major and the Minor"

A group of bachelor academics and a widower are writing an encyclopedia thanks to a donation. Their intellectual world is shaken by the arrival of a cabaret dancer, who proves to them that they know nothing about real life.

March 28 at 8:00 PM and March 29 at 6:00 PM – "Double Indemnity"

In Los Angeles, an insurance agent and the wife of one of his clients plot to murder her husband to collect a massive accidental death payout.
