The first Fallas since being declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity are increasingly near and are going to be really special! Valencia’s most international festival will inundate the city with 800 Fallas monuments bursting with humour and satire, fireworks, music and tradition.
Make a note of the key dates: 26 February sees the taking place of La Crida, the inaugural Fallas 2017 ceremony, with an impressive sound and light show including fireworks. From 1 March, there is an appointment to keep every day at 14:00 at Plaza del Ayuntamiento to hear the mascletà, an exiting symphony of gunpowder. From 3 February all of the figures (ninots) that are candidates for saving from the flames on the night of the Cremà on 19 March will be exhibited in the Science Museum, and you can have an influence on the final decision by voting for your favourite in the Exposició del Ninot.
The 15th sees the start of the intense activity, with all of the monuments in the streets and a diary full of parades, floral offering to the Virgen de los Desamparados (Our Lady of the Forsaken), fireworks, concerts, dances... Accompany all of this with day-to-day Valencia and enjoy March’s good weather, try typical Valencian paella and the rest of our cuisine and take advantage to discover the city essentials with discounts provided by the Valencia Tourist Card. And to discover the essence of the Fallas, book a guided tour to find out all the secrets of the festival. The fuse of the 2017 Fallas is now lit!
