The Casa Vestuario

Located opposite the Apostles’ Gate of the Cathedral, this building was designed by architect José García and completed in 1800. Its original purpose was to serve as a meeting point for the magistrates of the Water Tribunal before attending celebrations held in the cathedral complex.

With an irregular layout, its main façade features a simple, sober and elegant Neoclassical style. The ground floor, with its rusticated stonework and large doors, conveys the same stylistic character inside. The main floor has a large balcony that extends towards the other façade, ensuring the continuity of the building. Finally, the upper floor features smaller windows which, like the rest of the building, are framed with sober stone details. The interior also reflects a Neoclassical style.

Three doors stand out, with brick arches and sculptural groups whose themes reflect the urban character and prosperity of the people of Valencia. On the first floor is the main hall, where a frescoed ceiling by Vicente López once again evokes the fame and prosperity of Valencia.
