Return to Normalcy in the City of València After the DANA Floods

València has nearly fully recovered from the October floods, which mainly affected three southern neighborhoods and the Albufera Natural Park. Today, the city's services and tourist attractions are operating as usual, making it a safe and as attractive a destination as ever. Additionally, your visit can serve as an extra incentive to help València’s emotional and economic recovery. Because seeing you in València fills our hearts.
All tourist attractions are open
All museums and monuments, the City of Arts and Sciences, Oceanogràfic, Bioparc, and tourist information offices are operating during their regular hours. If you're planning your trip to València and have any questions, you can easily resolve them through our online chat.
Getting Around València
You can get around the city conveniently with the Valencia Tourist Card, which gives you access to the entire urban public transport network. If you're arriving by plane, you can take metro lines 3 and 5 or bus line 150 to get to the city hassle-free.
Tram lines 4, 6, 8, and 10, as well as metro lines 3, 5, and 9, are functioning along their entire routes. Additionally, lines 1 (between Bétera and Plaza de España), 2 (between Paterna and Plaza de España), and 7 (between Marítim and Sant Isidre) are operating partially. For the sections where the metro is still out of service, alternative buses are available. You can view the entire tram and metro network and substitute buses in this map.
Accessing València by Road or Train
Road access to the city is fully open and in good condition. If you have any doubts, you can check the status of the roads on the official profile of the Traffic Department, the Valencia City Council’s Traffic Office or the province roads map.
The AVE trains and the Media Distancia trains are operating normally, as well as all commuter lines, except for the Aldaia-Utiel section, which is being served by bus.
State of the Albufera Natural Park
Cleaning operations at the Albufera Natural Park are ongoing, meaning the beaches of Pinedo, Arbre de Gos, El Saler, Garrofera, and Devesa are temporarily closed to the public. However, boat rides on the lake have resumed, and all the restaurants in the area, known as the birthplace of paella, are open during their regular hours.

The Tribunal of Waters: UNESCO heritage live every Thursday
Do you want to experience one of Valencia's oldest traditions first hand?
Then take note because every Thursday at noon, under the majestic Door of the Apostles of the Cathedral of Valencia, you can watch the Tribunal of Waters, which has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
This event brings together eight farm workers, dressed in their traditional black blouses, to settle irrigation disputes live and in person.
They carry it out in Valencian, in keeping with a thousand-year-old rite that dates back to Arab times, no less.
And it is still effective!
This tribunal, considered a model of justice to be followed for its efficiency and speed, is the only legislative structure that has survived since the time of Jaume I.
The verdicts it issues in disputes in the Valencian huerta, which are not subject to appeal, are handed down by the members from 17th century wooden and leather armchairs.
If you want to see this ritual and make the most of it, try to arrive in good time.
This way you can see how the trustees prepare themselves in the "Casa Vestuario", in front of the Cathedral door, and make sure you don't miss any detail of that day's session, because it usually lasts very little time when there is no litigation.
Come rain or shine, the tribunal is always held, except if Thursday is a public holiday and the session is brought forward to Wednesday of the same week.
It is a must-see event whether you are visiting Valencia for the first time or if you want to know a little more about Valencian cultural and legal heritage.
