Valencia’s Bancaja Foundation has organised two exhibitions featuring the works of two giants of Spanish painting:

Sorolla and Spirituality, from 4 May to 2 September, and Zuloaga: Character and Emotion, from 13 May to 26 August. Sorolla and Spirituality features a series of paintings from the Valencian artist’s earliest period: unusually for him, they are concerned with religious themes. The works on display include I Am the Bread of Life, exhibited in public for the first time since its recent restoration.

Zuloaga: Character and Emotion is the first solo exhibition of the Basque artist’s work to take place in Valencia, and comprises a retrospective look at the paintings of an artist who played a key role in European art at the turn of the 20th century. The works on display range from some of his earliest paintings through to those he produced shortly before his death. The Bancaja Foundation also offers a series of parallel activities and guided tours.

Both exhibitions are designed for all audiences, and entrance is free.
