Julian Opie exhibition at Fundación Bancaja
Renowned internationally for his minimalist style and his basic, cartoon-like depictions of humans, British artist Julian Opie brings 30 of his works to the Bancaja cultural centre in Valencia until 25 June.
The exhibits come from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Santander Bank, Xavier Fiol Gallery, Mari Sequeira Gallery, Lisson Gallery and a score of private collections such as Hortensia Herrero’s.
The collection includes paintings, backlit art, LED panels and videos. Some of these works have never been publicly exhibited before, for example “7 People Walking”, a giant six-metre long LED panel with moving figures.
Complementing the exhibition are workshops for schools, OAPs, people with disabilities and those excluded socially, with the aim of bringing art, and the creative mind of Julian Opie, closer to these groups.
