Valencia with Children: a Ready-Made Trail

Beaches, City Life, Events and Entertainment, In Family Comments Off

The Valencia Children’s Route is a ready-made trail of venues and locations that are perfect days out and stopping off points when you are visiting Valencia with Children.

The 26-stop trail can be done on foot, by bike, using the metro or bus, or by hire car if you prefer. It covers a huge amount of the city and has educational points of interest plus plenty of plain old holiday fun: the secret behind any successful holiday with children.

Visiting Valencia with children doesn’t mean missing out on any of the big attractions. The City of Arts and Sciences, for example, offers so much for every age group that it will be as hard to tear grandparents away as grandchildren. There are some other gems for youngsters you may well gloss over in planning, though, if you haven’t been to Valencia before.

Gulliver Park is a huge climbing frame in the shape of the mythical giant Gulliver character, pinned down by ropes tied by the inhabitants of Lilliput. It can be found in the Turia Gardens – a fascinating stretch of gardens built into the old riverbed.

A lesser-known park with a very famous character is the Snow White Park. Children can step into the fantasy world they know and love, complete with Snow White, the dwarves and the prince.

If you want them to get involved in the culture of Valencia (and tire them out!) why not take your young travellers to the top of the Cathedral Bell Tower? The views over the city from the Micalet are captivating and will make children feel like giants.

A trip to the theatre offers a few hours out of the sunshine. There are plenty to chose from, including El Marionetari, Estrella and the Musical Theatre. The Escalante Theatre Centre puts on shows and exhibitions.

For more ideas on where to take the children in Valencia, view our trail, complete with map and public transport links, on the Visit Valencia website. Family travel around the city is made cheaper and easier with a Family Valencia Tourist Card, which enables you to hop on and off buses and metro trains and also offers discounts on the entrance fee to some key attractions, and money off at selected shops and restaurants.
