MotoGP fans descend on Valencia this month.
Valencia has a challenging racing circuit that adds another dimension to the sport of motorcycle racing and to the reasons to visit Valencia. The Gran Prix Generali is the next important date in the MotoGP calendar: from 8th-10th November the Gran Prix Generali 2013 will be held on the Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo Circuit.
For a brilliant take on how infectious the excitement surrounding MotoGP is, see the promotional video for this year’s event.
As the last round of the season, the event holds particular importance from drivers, teams and racing fans. The grandstand holds 65,000 seats and there is room for 120,000 spectators at this track, built in 1999.
Valencia’s mild autumn and winter temperatures make this track ideal for serious moto racing. It is a favourite for Formula One test racing. The track hosts the MotoGP, Valencian Community Gran Prix and also a race from the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season. It is named after the Gran Prix motorcycle racing champion Ricardo Tormo.
So impressive is the track in reality that it has been reproduced in videogames including Gran Turismo. For more information go to the Circuit Valencia website. To view and book accommodation go to the Visit Valencia website.
