The Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic occupies a very prominent place in the global ranking of the best orchestras, along with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Philharmonic Orchestra of New York.
The Orchestra was founded in 1951, and has made more than 300 recordings and performed in over 10,000 concerts in the best clubs and festivals around the world, led by the best Russian and foreign directors; including Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Krzyztof Penderecki, Igor Markevitch, Benjamin Britten, Igor Stravinsky. And in different periods of its existence, the orchestra has performed alongside almost all great soloists of the second half of the twentieth century and so far this century, including Artur Rubinstein, Isaac Stern. Yehudi Menuhin, Maurizio Pollini, David Oistrakh and Mstislav Rostropovich, to name just a few.
It is the first time the OFM has visited Valencia. It will do so under the baton of renowned conductor Yuri Botnari. He has recorded several CDs with the best European orchestras and his latest work with the London Symphony Orchestra was nominated for a Grammy. Guest soloist is Russian violinist Boris Bielkin.
The concert will feature three performances:
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – The Abduction from the Seraglio
- Johannes Brahms – Violin Concerto in D major, Opus 77
- Piotr I. Tchaikovsky – Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Opus 64
The concert will take place at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, starting at 8pm.
