Disney has chosen Valencia as the location for shooting its next film, ‘Tomorrowland’, which will star George Clooney, Hugh Laurie and Britt Robertson and is being filmed over the next few days in Valencia.
The American actor will be filming in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences for around 10 days, during which time he’ll get to know the city and taste the local cuisine.
The film, which will bring shots of Valencia to cinemas and homes around the world in 2015, will include scenes that are being filmed outside the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, in the entrance walkway of Palau de les Arts and on the esplanade of the Ágora building. To film the scenes, scaffolding has been constructed next to the buildings, which are also housing a spaceship in which the protagonists will land in Valencia, or Tomorrowland, as it’s called in the film.
Disney has chosen this architectural complex because of its futuristic look. The film, where a third of the scenes will be filmed in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, could reach an audience of more than 70 million people, a figure that, according to a study by the Spain Film Commission, is the publicity that such super-productions generate.
Directed by Oscar-winning Brad Bird of ‘The Incredibles’ and ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’, the film tells the story of a talented teenager who meets an old child prodigy. Together they embark on a mission that entails the discovery of an enigmatic place hidden in time and space, which they name Tomorrowland.
Valencia… coming soon to cinemas everywhere.
