The San Carlos Royal Academy of Fine Arts, still
maintaining its opposition to the baroque and defending
the neo-classical mood which boomed at the end of the
18th century, created a scholastic body to teach flower and
ornate art. Set up in 1784, it was headed by Benito Espinós,
who continued to produce all the sumptuosity of the rococo
within the Valencian baroque tradition.
