Bell-Tower of the
Church of Saint
Catherine Martyr

Torre campanario de la iglesia de Santa Catalina Mártir.
(Bell-tower of the Church of Saint Catherine the Martyr)
This was added to the gothic church in 1783 and planned
by Juan Bautista Viñes. It is a polygonal structure, of
Mediterranean tradition coming from the French region of
Languedoc, but given six sides (instead of eight) and with
the addition of back-toback Solomonic columns as the
basis of its decoration.
Their line is broken by a balustrade upon which the finial
rests. This is a small, slimline dome strengthened by volutes
for a convincing perspective effect.
